During it’s 133rd year, Dunfermline Art Club Annual Exhibition gets underway at the Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Dunfermline on Monday (27th). This years exhibition will feature around 200 paintings together with sculpture and a selection of craft items (almost all for sale) and will remain open through Thursday 7th July. We hope you’ll enjoy the artwork on offer.
The Gallery at Unit 22 will be receiving paintings for the next hanging over the period Thursday 7th July through Saturday 9th July. Gallery staff will dismantle the current display in the week leading up to 7th July and paintings will be held in the Gallery back storage area pending collection. The first day of the new receiving period (7th July) coincides with the final day of the Annual Exhibition, therefore unsold paintings from the Annual Exhibition can (if you wish) be taken straight to the Gallery for the new hanging. Staff will be on duty from 3 pm onwards to receive the paintings. Exhibit Forms and Labels will also be available for you to complete in the gallery. The duty sheet will be available in the club from Tuesday, 21st June and in Unit 22 from 7th through 9th July. Should you require clarification of these arrangements, please contact any of the Gallery Staff (Margaret Whyte, Jen Manson or Elaine Campbell).
“Regarding my quite recent letter about older work which you kindly published, I am writing to let you know that one of my old paintings, which I had repainted over recently, has been chosen to be published in a well known gardening magazine ! This floral painting was originally painted years ago and was copied from the book, Flowers and Designs to Copy. This book was the inspiration on my painting journey.” – Jean Cooper
Arrangements for this years Annual Exhibition are detailed in the “News” post dated 27th May. Additionally, for members who are unable to hand in work on 27th June, paintings may be be deposited in the Club Gallery in Unit 22 during normal opening hours of the preceding week. Also, members unable to collect paintings at the exhibition close, may wish to make arrangements to have then returned to Unit 22 for uplift at a more convenient time.
Please make a member of the Gallery staff aware if you intend taking advantage of these additional arrangements.
The drawing sessions will give way to any organised demos or tuition at the club.
