Sadly there is no Dunfermline Art Club Annual Exhibition this year. However we do have an online exhibition on our club Facebook Page which will run from 1st until 30th June. You can go there directly via Dunfermline Art Club on Facebook or via our Tab “2020 Online Exhibition” on the website. Lots of new paintings there, and you may find something of interest. Note however that the albums in this exhibition can only be viewed on the Facebook platform.
From tomorrow (5th March) the club Gallery in the Kingsgate Centre will reopen with a completely new exhibition of paintings (framed, unframed and prints). The exhibition will be available to view every Thursday, Friday and Saturday (12 noon until 4 o’clock) up until 25th April. Almost all the exhibits are available for sale to the general public. We hope you can manage to visit.
Dunfermline Art Clubs 137th Winter Exhibition will be held in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, Dunfermline, from Monday 18th November through Sunday 24th November 2019. Almost 200 works will be exhibited, featuring original paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel and other media. In addition to the paintings, which include landscapes, seascapes, figurative and still life subjects, other items of craftwork will also feature.
We hope to see you there.
Set up the Exhibition on Monday 18th November 2019. The Exhibition will open on Monday 18th November at 15.00 hrs in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre and close on Sunday 24th November 2019 at 16.00 hrs.
5 entries per member, £1 hanging fee per original work (prints cannot be accepted for hanging). 20% commission for the sale of paintings, 10% for the sale of browser items and craftwork.
Unframed original work and unframed prints are acceptable for the browser rack — 5 per exhibiting member.
Use standard Exhibition entry forms (separate form required for unframed work or prints).
Entry forms, hanging fees and details of craftwork should be handed in by 15.00 hrs, Wednesday 13th November 2019 to a Committee member please.
Paintings, craftwork and browser items may be submitted to the Kingsgate Centre at the point where the Exhibition is held on Monday 18th November, between 13.30 hrs and 14.30 hrs.
Members exhibiting must commit to at least two periods of duty during the exhibition.
If entering a n.f.s. painting this must be accompanied by a for sale painting. It is not permissible to have a not for sale painting with copies in the browser.
Members should be aware of copyright law and any work copied from other artists, paintings or photographs including those taken from books etc., should acknowledge the original artist or photographer.
FRAMING STANDARDS ARE THE SAME AS FOR ALL EXHIBITIONS
Paintings will not be hung unless they are properly framed and have ‘d’ rings no more than one third down from the top of the painting and are tightly corded. Screws and rings must be covered by a small amount of padding (foam or bubble wrap) secured with tape to prevent damage to other works.
The backs of framed paintings must be sealed with brown framing tape (not masking tape or parcel tape).
Unframed stretched canvas paintings are acceptable if finished neatly at the edges.
Labels for your work are available in the Studio. Please make sure your labels are clearly written in block capitals in black ink and that the details match those given on the entry form. Please tie the label to the hanging cord with a length of string long enough to drape over the top of your painting so it can be seen from the front (for initial hanging purposes ) . An example is on permanent display at the club.
Unsold work must be collected on the final day of the exhibition (Sunday 24th November between 1600 and 1700 hrs) unless prior arrangements have been made.
Please give your name to Helen Rowbotham if you are (i) unable to enter your paintings on the monday yourself or (ii) unable to collect them from the exhibition. Pictures can be delivered to the gallery and/or collected from it prior to or after the exhibition times by prior arrangement with Helen Rowbotham.
The hanging committee will refuse any pieces of work not meeting these simple requirements. Exhibits will not be insured and are hung at the owner’s risk. Members may wish to insure their own work.
This year, members submitting cards for sale must complete a card entry form with the name of the member, number of cards submitted and initials used on cards by the member.
Card entries will now appear in the exhibition catalogue.
Many thanks to all the club members who contributed with setting up, dismantling, and providing the excellent artwork for our 136th Annual Exhibition. Thanks also to the management at the Kingsgate Shopping Centre and of course the general public from Dunfermline and surrounding area for their continued support.
Up to 5 framed paintings not previously exhibited at an annual exhibition will be accepted. Unframed stretched canvas paintings are acceptable if neatly finished at the edges. Up to 5 unframed paintings/prints per member will be accepted for the browser, (if also exhibiting original paintings).
Will be accepted only until 3.00p.m. on Wednesday 12th June at the Club. Point of contact is George Aitken. Separate forms are required for framed paintings and items for the browser. Forms and details of craft items must also be handed in by 12th June. Browser items and craft are only acceptable from members submitting original paintings and are free to enter. “Not for Sale” paintings can be accepted but must be matched with “For sale” paintings on a one for one basis. The hanging fee for paintings is £1 per item.
All members entering work in the exhibition must do a minimum of two duties and these must be detailed on the entry forms when presenting them with payment of hanging fees.
Framing standards within the club apply to all work submitted for exhibition at any venue.
1. Adequate and secure rings are to be placed no more than one third down from the top of the frame and tightly wired or corded. 2. To prevent damage to other works, screws and rings must be covered by a small amount of padding (foam or bubble wrap) and secured with masking or other tape to hold the padding in place. 3. The backs of paintings must be sealed with brown gummed tape or framing tape (as sold by the SAA and available from the club sales drawer). Masking tape or or parcel tape is unacceptable. 4. A brown luggage label, written in capitals in black ink is to be attached to the hanging cord with string. It should show details of the painting and be identical to the information on the entry form. (Name, Painting Title, Medium and Price) The string should be long enough to hang over the top of the frame. This is to assist the Hanging Committee when hanging members’ work. 5. A sample of the standard required for framing paintings is available at the Club. Although the example has an adhesive label attached in addition to the luggage label, this adhesive label is not a specific requirement and need not be applied. Work that does not comply with these framing standards will not be accepted for hanging.
SPECIAL HANDING IN ARRANGEMENTS Members who are unable to hand in work on 17th June may make a specific arrangement with the Unit 22 Gallery Management to deposit their work in the Club Gallery in Unit 22 during normal opening hours of the preceding week. Also, members unable to collect paintings for unavoidable reasons at the exhibition close, may make arrangements with the Unit 22 Gallery Management to have then returned to Unit 22 for uplift at a more convenient time. It is essential that Gallery staff are aware and agree well in advance if you intend taking advantage of these special arrangements.
COPYRIGHT & INSURANCE Members should be aware of copyright law and any works copied from other artists’ paintings or photographs, including those taken from books, should acknowledge the original artist or photographer on the entry form. Exhibits will not be insured and are hung at the owner’s risk. Members may wish to insure their own work.
COMMISSION 20% taken on paintings and 10% on browser items and crafts.
