Remembrance – Painting Challenge

Poppies are seen in a pile at the British Legion Poppy Factory in Richmond, west LondonClub Members will recall the August issue of the Gallery newsletter, Complementary Colours, which offered us a painting challenge. The idea was that we should each produce a painting on the theme of remembrance, which would be displayed at our upcoming Winter Exhibition (10th-19th November). Since 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I, this sounds like a great idea, one that would really strike a chord with the public. While it’s not compulsory, we hope most members will take up the suggestion. Syd Reeve, who originated the challenge, is hoping to arrange a tie-in with one of the military charities and we’ll tell you more about this later. Anyone with any questions about the remembrance theme paintings can contact Syd at syd.reeve@sky.com
