Although the submission of paintings for this event was timed to coincide with the start of the Winter Exhibition on 10th November, the Gallery at Unit 22 will also accept members entries for display during the Gallery’s regular hanging period (from 16th October). Paintings may be transferred to the Winter Exhibition later at members request. In summary, paintings may be exhibited at either a. The Winter Exhibition, b. In the Gallery at Unit 22, or c. At both venues. The club will donate the hanging fees paid by members plus any commission earned on sales to Poppy Scotland. Additionally, members are encouraged to donate, at their discretion, either a proportion of or all the proceeds from sales to Poppy Scotland. Further information is available from Syd Reeve at firstname.lastname@example.org
Club Members will recall the August issue of the Gallery newsletter, Complementary Colours, which offered us a painting challenge. The idea was that we should each produce a painting on the theme of remembrance, which would be displayed at our upcoming Winter Exhibition (10th-19th November). Since 2014 marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of World War I, this sounds like a great idea, one that would really strike a chord with the public. While it’s not compulsory, we hope most members will take up the suggestion. Syd Reeve, who originated the challenge, is hoping to arrange a tie-in with one of the military charities and we’ll tell you more about this later. Anyone with any questions about the remembrance theme paintings can contact Syd at email@example.com
The Watercolour Painting Group, hosted by Colin Joyce, will resume at the club on Wednesday 24th September (7-9pm). The sessions cater for all levels of expertise, from absolute beginners to more experienced watercolourists. Colin includes one to one tuition, practical demonstrations and themed sessions focusing on different techniques. The watercolour sessions are free of charge and all club members will be made very welcome.
The minutes of last weeks AGM have now been produced. A copy of these has been circulated to members via email. A hard copy will be available to view at the club as from Wednesday (27 August).
It is now almost September again. The time of year that the new season’s membership fees fall due. The annual fee for 2014-15 remains at £35 and becomes payable as from Monday 1st September 2014.
The club is still fortunate to have experienced artists who offer their time to provide tutorials in pastels and watercolours at no extra charge (see Website Tutorials page), so we feel sure you will agree that the membership fee provides extremely good value. As well as 50 weeks’ of Club meetings in a very sociable environment, members also have the opportunity to exhibit work in the Clubs Gallery in Unit 22 of the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, and have their work featured in two major exhibitions each year.
Payment of fees may be by cash or personal cheque made payable to Dunfermline Art Club. Committee Members will be on hand at the club to receive and record payment and issue your new membership card.

Once again we are looking for donations of items suitable for raffle prizes as well as asking members to sell raffle tickets in advance of the exhibition at a cost of £1 per book of 5 tickets.
There will be two hampers, one with a Scottish theme (i.e. whisky, haggis, shortbread, tablet etc) and we would welcome wines and spirits, chocolates, tins of biscuits, new items of toiletries, jewellery and other attractive items.
A selection of framed original paintings are also required.
Your cooperation is requested to make this the usual bumper raffle which has in the past successfully covered the cost of transporting the screens to and from the Kingsgate. Please contact Anne Hill or Freda Danby at the Club
