Take Part in Berrylaw Perspective Exhibition

Posted on February 8, 2021 by Website Administrator
Beautiful Materials Design Studio invites you to be inspired to create a landscape artwork from the perspective of Berrylaw Hill Dunfermline. Your creation will be displayed in an exhibition entitled Berrylaw Perspective (curated by Nicola Atkinson and Alan Grieve) in the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum. Please note, that although Dunfermline Art Club is promoting the Berrylaw Perspective Exhibition, the event itself is entirely sponsored and curated by Beautiful Materials Design Studio
Submit your artwork and become part of living history. You can sign up via the following link  https://berrylawperspective.eventbrite.co.uk/
The exhibition is part of the public artwork ‘Walking in the town as if you were wandering in landscape’ by Nicola Atkinson. The artist, of the Beautiful Materials Design Studio , takes Andrew Blair’s painting as a starting point, creating a new perspective from Bruce Street as if you were wandering in a landscape.

Dunfermline from the North West

The old studio of celebrated 19th century Dunfermline artist Andrew Blair (situated at 9 Bruce Street) provides the perfect setting for displaying one of his landscape paintings, ‘Dunfermline from the North-West’. Painted in 1860, the work is in the collection of the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum. The painting shows the town from the perspective of Berrylaw Hill. When standing at that vantage point you can see almost the exact same view that he captured.

DAC Winter Exhibition – Arrangements

Posted on October 17, 2019 by Website Administrator

Set up the Exhibition on Monday 18th November 2019. The Exhibition will open on Monday 18th November at 15.00 hrs in the Kingsgate Shopping Centre and close on Sunday 24th November 2019 at 16.00 hrs.
==================================================
5 entries per member, £1 hanging fee per original work (prints cannot be accepted for hanging). 20% commission for the sale of paintings, 10% for the sale of browser items and craftwork.

Unframed original work and unframed prints are acceptable for the browser rack — 5 per exhibiting member.

Use standard Exhibition entry forms (separate form required for unframed work or prints).
Entry forms, hanging fees and details of craftwork should be handed in by 15.00 hrs, Wednesday 13th November 2019 to a Committee member please.
Paintings, craftwork and browser items may be submitted to the Kingsgate Centre at the point where the Exhibition is held on Monday 18th November, between 13.30 hrs and 14.30 hrs.
Members exhibiting must commit to at least two periods of duty during the exhibition.
If entering a n.f.s. painting this must be accompanied by a for sale painting. It is not permissible to have a not for sale painting with copies in the browser.
Members should be aware of copyright law and any work copied from other artists, paintings or photographs including those taken from books etc., should acknowledge the original artist or photographer.

FRAMING STANDARDS ARE THE SAME AS FOR ALL EXHIBITIONS
Paintings will not be hung unless they are properly framed and have ‘d’ rings no more than one third down from the top of the painting and are tightly corded. Screws and rings must be covered by a small amount of padding (foam or bubble wrap) secured with tape to prevent damage to other works.
The backs of framed paintings must be sealed with brown framing tape (not masking tape or parcel tape).

Unframed stretched canvas paintings are acceptable if finished neatly at the edges.

Labels for your work are available in the Studio. Please make sure your labels are clearly written in block capitals in black ink and that the details match those given on the entry form. Please tie the label to the hanging cord with a length of string long enough to drape over the top of your painting so it can be seen from the front (for initial hanging purposes ) . An example is on permanent display at the club.

Unsold work must be collected on the final day of the exhibition (Sunday 24th November between 1600 and 1700 hrs) unless prior arrangements have been made.

Please give your name to Helen Rowbotham if you are (i) unable to enter your paintings on the monday yourself or (ii) unable to collect them from the exhibition. Pictures can be delivered to the gallery and/or collected from it prior to or after the exhibition times by prior arrangement with Helen Rowbotham.

The hanging committee will refuse any pieces of work not meeting these simple requirements. Exhibits will not be insured and are hung at the owner’s risk. Members may wish to insure their own work.

Card entries
This year, members submitting cards for sale must complete a card entry form with the name of the member, number of cards submitted and initials used on cards by the member.
Card entries will now appear in the exhibition catalogue.

Dunfermline Ambulance Station – Exhibition Renewal

Posted on October 5, 2019 by Website Administrator
The club exhibition in Dunfermline Ambulance Station has been running since early April. After a six month run, it is intended that a re-hanging be arranged for early November. There is now a notice on the exhibition notice board with details of the arrangements for the ‘refresh’ of members’ paintings. There is a list of work already on display and a couple of sheets on the table to be used for those who would like to exhibit again in this new hanging.
The arrangement with the Ambulance Station remains the same as that outlined in our original post dated 9th March 2019.
